I've been to the Black Hills numerous times - I have family in the area - but when we went in 2010 for the 70th Sturgis Rally, that was the first time on a motorcycle. Boy! What a difference when you're OUT IN IT! My boyfriend had never been to the area before and absolutely loved it.

The Sturgis Rally is so much more than drinking and partying - in fact, we'll skip that part entirely. The rally is a reason for us to be there, soaking in all the great scenery, riding in one of the most beautiful regions in this great country with other riders - or riding for miles and miles in the vastness and seeing little to no one at all.

And there's no shame in trailering the bikes. When I travel more than 1000 miles one way to a destination, I'd rather be fresh to ride my bike hundreds of miles all over the place when I get there than beat from the trip up, too tired to ride when I first get there, and then beat from the 1000-mile ride home again. I'd need more vacation at home to recuperate from my vacation!

We are planning another trip next year for the 75th anniversary - and this time I'll be on my own bike! - tackling the twisties at Needles SP, riding out to the Devils Tower in WY, and all the other adventures to be found. Can't wait!

This was also my first trip to Sturgis; my boyfriend's 20-plus year, and my first bike rally. I am new to the biker scene as I just met my boyfriend a few months ago, but I am loving every minute of it. I was glad I got to go with a seasoned visitor and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend enjoyed showing me around. We took day trips to Mt. Rushmore, Needles Highway and Devil's Tower. We also saw Hairball at EasyRider Saloon twice. which was awesome. I love them.

I am looking forward to going next year and having more opportunities to see and do more, without the bickering group we went with this year. What an awesome experience, like Marlene said "Ya gotta go to Sturgis just once in your life!!" or 20.

This past year was my fifth at Sturgis, and I can't wait to go next year! My boss asked me what it is about Sturgis -- the reason I love to go -- and I told him its everything. We ride our bikes pulling our little trailers to our favorite camping spot. We love to ride, we stop at familiar places, always finding a new spot, and meeting the greatest people! It doesn't take much to start up a conversation, and we've met a lot of nice people! It does cost more to go to Sturgis.

The first year I went out people told me there were muggings, rapes, shootings, they had me a little nervous, but after one day out there I was having so much fun all that went out the window! For me its a time to get away from work, absolutely relax, unwind and enjoy riding my Harley! I would recommend it to anyone who rides. Ya gotta go to Sturgis just once in your life!!
