I am 4 feet 10 inches. I ride a 2018 Harely-Davidson Street Bob with a 107 cubic inch Milwaukee-Eight. I do try to wear a boot with a platform heel. I can manage most areas well on my own. If needed, my husband helps in backing up if I'm on a hill or uneven ground. I was told by some I was too short to ride on my own. Well I'm living proof—set your mind to something and it can become reality!

My husband rides a 1700 Kawasaki Nomad. It is a big cruiser. I first had a Honda Shadow 750, then a Kawasaki Vulcan 900, and always had a bit of a hard time keeping up with him. Finally last year I traded it in for a Kawasaki Vulcan S. (650). This bike is amazing. I traveled to Tennessee last year and completed the Tail of the Dragon on a month-long trip. This bike was just as fast as my husband's 1700, but it was just light enough for me. This bike comes with an ergonomic fit, so it can be sized small, medium, or large, depending on which handlebar, seat, and pegs you choose. I'm 5 feet 3 inches and I have the small size bars, seat, and pegs, but medium seat. It's a cruiser with the engine of a sport bike. I highly recommend this bike. I outfitted it with saddlebags and a luggage rack so I can carry as much as my husband. I did sit on all the BMWs and none fit me. I would take the Vulcan S for its reliability.

I have been riding Sportsters for the past few years. I like a bigger bike so my husband found me a Harley Fat Boy that we customized for me. I’m 5 feet 3 inches. This bike has great balance and I love it. I would recommend a bike that fits you—feet firmly on the ground and reduced reach seat if needed, and properly sized bars. Good luck and safe riding.

I’m 5 feet 1 inch, in my 50s and ride a Harley Ultra Low. So yes, petite women can definitely ride a large bike!
