You are right about riding in the rain. It gets old pretty quick. However, wearing the right gear and making certain your tires are healthy makes for a much more enjoyable ride. I started riding in 1977 in Seattle, always enjoy heading up to LaConner, Duvall or over Stevens Pass to Eastern WA. Much more fun to ride out than in town. Enjoy.

Linda,
When you come up to Seattle, plan to take the ferry over to Bainbridge Island or Vashon Island for some beautiful riding very close to the city. In-town doesn't provide too much scenery other than traffic, but you can quickly be out on curvy country farm roads. Or plan a day ride up to Bellingham via Skagit Valley and Chuckanut Drive. It is amazing. Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for the inspiring article! I'm looking forward to riding up to Seattle to visit my family next summer. I'm hoping to take a few extra days and ride up the coast, but if you can suggest a scenic in-town ride I'd love to try one!

Great article. I learned to ride while we were living on our boat near Anacortes, Washington. We love the Pacific Northwest. So many great rides. But the rain! Ugh! Thanks for the great story.
