Betsy,
Just discovered you through surfing through some Sturgis pics. Have now read some of your writings. Love your wind sister -- true classic character. I have been riding for about eight years now but I find a new inspiration in reading about you and from you. Keep it up for all of us. You're great.

Betsy,

Thank you! You are such a guiding light for women riders and aspiring writers.

My first time going to Sturgis was last year. I was 25 and I've never felt more at home then I did there. I'd almost compare it to my first pair of glasses, because being myself had never been clearer. Maybe it was a bit of a coming of age story for me, but it truly helped me realize what's important to me. I met so many wonderful people and heard so many fascinating stories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I often think to myself how wild it is how some people you cross paths with for only a moment can have such a long lasting effect on the rest of your life. (Especially when most will probably never know it.) I felt accepted and free in so many ways. God bless the biker community!

Now I have set a goal for myself to ride back out to rally one year (hopefully in the not too distant future) and like you, share my stories on the road. I want to pay it forward and hopefully give others encouragement to set out on their own soul searching adventures.

For me some of the greatest life lessons have come from traveling and meeting new people. With any luck someday I will be able to include you in one of my stories.

Thank you for all you share and do!

A role model? Did she sign up for that?! Jeezum! We are all adults and hopefully if you are riding your own bike then you are intelligent enough to make decisions for yourself.

Sheesh!

Oh ya, Betsy, those cowgals are barrel racers...not barrel riders! LOL

Excellent writing! I was totally drawn to the stories and think your reporting is an incredible work of art.
