Wow....beautiful bike! No doubt, BMW is in a league of it's own. Way to go. Ride on!

I have a 2007 R 1200 GS and I love it. I agree with all comments. It is an amazingly versatile bike. I've taken it cross country, on the track, on the dirt, and it is nimble enough to ride around the city. I too would like to change the seat and windshield, but for now, they are adequate. Overall, I am a huge fan!

I just rode my 2008 R 1200 GS from Ann Arbor, MI to Niagara Falls, Ontario, for the Memorial Day weekend. It was my first trip on the bike (I've only had it about a month). I 'graduated' from a BMW F 650 GS and totally love the increase in horsepower and solid feel. I had a custom seat done for my 650 because the stock seat on it is far worse than the 1200. I may go the custom seat route on the 1200 as well. We'll see.

It's great to hear how happy you are with your bike. I also have one, and am leaving soon for a trip to the Rockies, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. I'm in agreement with you about the seat. I know several owners who replaced their seats but it is an added cost. I'm curious about the higher windshield and if you like it. Let us know. Thanks.
