The Calico boots looks so stylish and amazing.

I just bought the new Calico riding boots and I wanted to make sure I submitted a review/comment on them because no one at the dealer could give me an opinion on how they are for riding. Today was sprinkling out, so it was a perfect day to test the soles as well. I'm going to review them 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.

Style - 5 - these are super cute boots

Comfort - 3 - really soft leather, but the higher heel is going to limit the time wearing them

Riding - 2 - no issues with the sole for stopping, but the heel didn't work so well with the pegs on my forward controls. When I lifted my feet off the pegs to put my feet down, they got stuck and the pegs came with the boots. Shifting wasn't too bad. I just had keep the peg wedged in there and pivot my boot under the peg to up-shift and over to down-shift, different than I'm used to, but not horrible. Braking was a little more difficult, since my boots didn't quite reach the brake lever as I'm used to, so I able to apply the force I'm used to. I'd either have to shorten the brake lever or unwedge my foot to apply more force. Over time I think I could get used to riding with the boots on, but I'm worried that safety is compromised and in an emergency braking situation, I definitely would not be able to stop as fast. I don't think these boots were very thought out for riding and I think I'll keep them for going out rather than riding.

I totally agree with Cheryl. The article is great, and the products are fantastic. It would just be nice to have a tall boot that was sexy and functional for the women riders. I most definitely like the Calico boot, but would not buy it for fear of that type of heel getting caught in a small enough pothole to throw you, or getting caught on the mid-controls. It's alright for those that ride as a passenger but not those at the helm. I know Harley-Davidson can make it sexy and functional at the same time. I really do love that Calico boot though.

I just bought the Wind Crest jacket today, but didn't realize I could put an entire water bottle inside. I did see the back pocket, where I plan to put hydration packs to provide evaporative cooling in our hot Texas summers. I also like the fact that it's mainly white, to reflect those sun rays. We have already had temperatures near 100, and it's still May!
