Rain Suits

by DarkAngel » Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:13 pm

I'm looking to buy my own rainsuit...been wearing my husbands old one , LOL, it's a little big. I need one that has the leg guards to protect my exhaust...and my legs :D I don't want to spend a fortune and I need it to be packable. I don't start out in the rain but often get caught out in it. I like the Harley womens Hi Vis rain suit but it's expensive. Has anybody tried it yet? Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've heard the HD rain suits by Harley are very good. DH and I bought the Tourmaster Sentinel. I love it. I rode for 5 hours in pouring down rain this past September and it kept me bone dry :) .
It also has a protective material on the inside of the leg to protect against the exhaust. I have the yellow coat.

I've had my HD womens rainsuit for years. Although it isn't the new Hi Vis, the jacket is very hi vis even in foggy rain. Saw another rider with exact rain suit on in very foggy, rain drizzle drive on the PA toll road thru the hills. They stood out more than any other vehicle ahead of us.

I've almost outgrown my rainpants as they are more fitted at the waist than most. Even though I can't zip the pants all the way up, they still keep me very dry and comfortable.

Well worth every penny I paid for the rainsuit.

I wear teh Harley rain gear and love it. Hint.....I bought my on ebay for half the cost. Go into a dealership and try them on with whatever you will ride in when you wear it. Find out what size fits best, then check out ebay for the same style and size. Good rain gear is worth the cost, but why pay more if you don't have to. Here's a packing hint: buy one of those bags that you use a vacumm cleaner to suck all the air out and make it slim and packable. Then put it into your saddle bags so you've always got it. I have asked housekeeping at hotels to borrow a vacumm cleaner to repack it. They are always helpful and often interested in watching!

I've been wearing Frogg Toggs for years. When I bought mine the dealer sold them as separates and I like that since I don't like them to "fit" but want them to be comfy when I ride. They were the same price as the pre-packaged same size top/bottoms. The dealer also had the pre-packaged ones. I also wear them over other gear if I need to...generally it's over summer gear if we get caught out in a storm. In years past I've worn them to keep in the warmth and the cold out.

I also have Frogg Toggs. I got them at Bass Pro, as a promotional deal, $29.99 for the jacket, pants, poncho, hat and carry case. They work very well.
