May 4th International Female Ride Day

by Iron Rose » Sun Mar 25, 2012 10:23 am

So this coming May 4th is the 6th International Female Ride Day. I've always ridden on this day but this is my first year to participate in a planned ladies' event. I'm helping out the great lady who coordinates the event in my area and I wanted to pick your brilliant minds!

Do you have any ideas for activities for this day? In our area in the past it's only been an informal ride but we're looking to possibly do something different this year. So I'm just looking for a little spark to jump start my imagination!

MMM, are you thinking something like a destination? Maybe a charity? Everyone meet and end up at a local APL with cash donation, even a modest amout is appreciated and goes a long way. Or something more girly, maybe to a spa or salon and get tips on sun and skin care for women riders, maybe to a dealership to see hair wrangling products.
Sometimes just riding and going for pie is enough.

We're planning a couple different rides and a scavenger hunt with prizes like gas cards, salon gift certificates and the like. So cool! I can't wait.

Amanda, glad to see you have your avatar up, it's great. Glad too that youv'e got your ride planned for the day. Best I'll be able to manage is a nice solo after work, on my favorite loop, maybe meet Hubby for dinner at our local hotdog place.
Have fun, Brenda

Amanda,
I too like your Avatar. Sounds like you have a nice event planed for your day. On May 4th I will be riding about 450 miles from Harrisburg, PA to Napeloen, Ohio to a Harley Davidson Dealership who is having a weekend event for women riders. Looking forward to it. Ride safe and enjoy your event. Anna

Hey Iron Rose,
If you are planning to sell prize tickets (which you can buy at some dollar stores by the roll), and who doesn't want to win a prize(?!) here's a thought for prizes. Some of the direct sales reps are more than happy to donate a prize or something small to put in goodie bags, as a way of getting new business contacts. They donate a prize or give samples along with their business card to event attendees. Maybe you can contact a local Avon rep., Mary Kay rep. Do you have Party-lite down there? If not try another direct sales co. that sells gift items.
Have you considered a 50/50 draw?
Just a few ideas.

My main plan is to be riding to and from work that day. Though, truth be told, I'll ride the commute as much as I possibly can! ;)

OK, rode to work at 5am for IFRD. 30 miles of fog. Got to work and the fog got thicker. We are under heavy fog warning until 9am. Hope the rest of the day turns out better. :|

Oh how cool would an all ladies ride be! But alas, I have no one to ride with but DH. We just took the MSC this week and got our endorsements!! Whoo hoo!! Now to find a bike, my bike....
