Morning Ladies,
Went for a ride yesterday that started with an errand for a washing machine part that they didn't have and then on to north Ga. for the other errand which was to check out the Givi trunks so he could see what fit and what looked the best. A few weeks ago he put his Givi on the m/c but didn't "lock" it in so when he made the turn onto the main road it came off. He didn't realize that it departed company until he got to work so he called and I looked for it but someone had already picked it up. I called the police dept. just in case someone turned it in. It had his computer, Garmin, and other stuff that was important so he was very thankful when it was turned in....only after the guy couldn't get in it. The guy had messed up the lock. BF had just "sat" it on the rack and not locked it in.
Ok..now to the story of the day. I was in "slow" mode so it was a much slower ride than normal. After we got out of town he started asking at almost every stop sign/light/etc. if I was ok. Kept telling him that I was ok just not in fast mode. He told me several times that I just wasn't keeping up like I usually did. Told him again that I was just in slow mode. He was concerned. Now, after the ride, I think slow mode was a good mode to be in!! Since we'd had the rough weather come through on Friday/early Sat. (EF3 tornado for 29 miles in some areas) so the mtns had their share of the rain and wind. There were lots of places where the leaves and debris had washed down the side of the mtn and then out into the road so you couldn't see what was in them. Lots of drivways had also washed out into the road from the water so some places were sandy and some had gravel added just to add a bit more pucker power. We came around several curves and had the above to deal with but we also had several cagers pull out and be moving at snail pace. Don't think most of the could see us 'cause we didn't see them until we came around the curve. One curve was a surprise because there was a "dead rock" about 2/3's the size of a basketball with several smaller rocks around it in the middle of the road. It had come off the mtn side. And if all this hasn't been enough we came around another curve only to see several cars/trucks stopped in the road and some were turned cross ways so we thought there had been a bad accident and were thankful that it wasn't. There was a tree across the road and several guys were trying to get it moved over to the side.
So with all this being part of our day I can say that I'm glad that I was in "slow" mode.
Well I think the lesson here is to say....ladies...all those things that you never thought could happen just might happen on a nice ride to the mtns. or to anywhere so be prepared for that little surprise that may be waiting for you.
