Mid-Atlantic Womens Rally

The Mid-Atlantic Women's Motorcycle Rally is scheduled to take place June 16-18th 2011 in Gettysbury, Pa. This all-women rally, originated by Nancy Warren, is for any woman who wants to come together with other women who ride, to learn from each other, laugh with each other, and ride with each other. Fun and informative seminars and demonstrations ranging from crafts to motorcycle maintenance are held, outdoor motorcycle games are enjoyed, motorcycle accessory and clothing and jewelry vendors are there; and if that's not enough, there's also a bike show, entertainment, a parade and a banquet!

I was wondering if anyone has attended this event in the past. Our club is thinking of adding it to our calendar this year and wanted to get others thoughts on the event.

Bram, back in 1998 I was asked by Nancy Warren to join the board of MAWMR and I was on it for 5 years. I left because I didn't like the way the rally was going, even though it was a cool way to see money raised for the Susan G Komen Foundation. The rally got sloppy for a while in terms of behavior, not 100% witnessed by the executive board back then. They will defend their reason and maybe the crap will hit the fan if one of them see the first part, oh well.
I went back in 2005 just as a participant and it was starting to tone down a little. Last year I went again and did 2 Total Control seminars for them and the new leadership of the rally has really cleaned it up. They are now raising money for H.O.P.E based out of Freedom, Pa for all cancer patients. Adding new things changing some of the work shops like me doing the Total Control breakout sessions. This year I along with Tracy Martin will teach an all womens Total Control class for rally participants only. I'm pretty sure I will do the break out sessions for them too. I'm trying to get them to to get another seminar on health and fitness by asking a lady who does BOOT CAMP work outs too.
MAWMR executive board no tomatos chucked at me please! But honestly the new leadership is doing a good job runing a tight ship.

I will be attending the MAWMR for the first time in June. It will also be my first ever rally, and I am riding solo to get there. I live in CT and figure it will take about 5-6 hrs.
I am keeping an open mind about what my experience will be like. I do hope I meet some great people and enjoy the historical area.
If anyone out there is riding from the Northeast and wants to ride with someone, reply back, and perhaps we could arrange a meeting spot.

Does any one have any more feed back on their past experiences at the Mid Atlantic Womens Rally in Gettysburg, PA? It is so close to home for me, have thought about attending it in the past but never did. Maybe I will put it on my travel list for 2012. Anna

The Rally is a great place! I have met and maintained friendships with women that I've met at the rally over over years. This year will be the 20th Anniversary of the Rally and very special to all that have and haven't attended. The board has worked very hard this year to take in all comments, praise and criticisms in order to create an event that is bigger and better. The neat thing is that there really is an incredible mix of people at the event, old, young, straight, gay, two wheels, three wheels, riders, non-riders, and all races. The common thing is that we all love motorcycles and want to see the women's motorcycling community grow stronger.
It's all about Women Motorcyclists supporting Women with the challenges of cancer while building a community.
