Riding Anniversary (Bike Related)

I'm starting this thread so we have a place to "flaunt"/share our anniversaries of things like; when you started riding, got your endorsement or got your bike and so on. Sometimes these little bits of information get lost in a thread and they are major accomplishments that deserve to be noted (IMO).

My anniversary was a few weeks ago (August). It was my 1 year of getting my first bike, completing my MSC and getting my endorsement. Talk about a midlife awaking!

Share yours when you get a chance and/or as the dates roll around.

Wow, our anniversaries are the same! I got my first bike, completed MSC and got my endorsement a year ago last month. I have to say (again) that I wish I'd started riding much sooner. It's really given me the confidence and strength that I thought I had lost. I wish I could get my daughter her own bike, but for now she's too busy raising my two darling grandchildren... I dream though of the day that she and I can do a road trip together. And when we're done with that, we'll take our daughter/granddaughter on one! Thanks for starting this thread, T!

Wow you started this thread on a perfect date 09/26/11 for me to use todays date as an anniversary. It's my 7th anniversary (09/26/04) of passing the MSF course for my class "M" . But was riding my own bike before this date. Anna

Well ladies I can't say that after this many years of riding that I think of those anniversaries for myself but I can say that it does make me smile when I read about the ones that ya'll are having and how proud you are of them. (Even when they're mentioned in other topics.) I do remember when I was as proud of them as ya'll are. I remember every ride was...ok...only 900 miles to my first 1,000 and ok...only 525 to my first 1,000 so ya'll are bringing back some memories. Nice memories. Frustrating memories. I can't say WHEN I first "rode" around the curves rather than "drove" around them but I thought "I'm finally getting there" or that first time that I didn't have to stop at a light...had slowed to stop, it changed and I down shifted TO THE RIGHT GEAR and rode on through it. (To "drive" around a curve is when you keep the m/c straight up with no lean.) It's so nice that this website is here for the support, encouragement, direction, or whatever each of us needs at different times to move on and to realize that we aren't the only one who had that particular problem. So congrats to all of you for your determination, desire, patience, and "I CAN do this" attitude!!!!!!!! Smiles and hugs to all of you for being sooooooo proud of your accomoplishments.

Sept 22, 2010, I walked out of the DMV with "M" on my license, I had taken my second MSF class that prior weekend and passed with flying colors. I'm still excited to see it and wonder if anyone else notices when I use it for ID and is as impressed as I hope they'd be. I'm still surprised that I wanted to ride a M/C, I'm not the adventurous type, usually happy to live in a comfortable rut but everytime I pull out on the road, wow, I'm really something, hear me roar.

Yeah, I know that feeling, too, Brenda. Others sure take more notice when they see me ride or I walk in somewhere carrying my helmet, than when I am driving our Joe-Average car. I get a variety of reactions, but I do get noticed. "How do different people react" is a topic that has always fascinated me. There was no hint of me someday becoming a rider when I was in high-school. I found a website for my school. When I posted about the bike, one guy said, "This I gotta see!!" Hee-hee!
Anyway, yeah, the 1sts are always exciting, I do recall. I never did pay much attention to the actual anniversaries, although it's fun to reminisce about earlier days.
For me, now, it's how many years, 9 now, and what the ODO says. It just passed the 50,000km (which I believe is 30,000mi.) mark this year.

I'm loving these posts... reminds me of when I finally decided that I was "worth it" about the time I bought my first bike... and I got braces on my teeth to correct my smile. My son's reaction was, "isn't that kind of a crappy investment, Mom. Aren't you like in your 50s!?" Hahahaaaa.... he wasn't serious but it was the same kind of reaction I get when I drive into my favorite quilt shop parking lot. REALLY? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Do you NOT know what you wanna be when you grown up? I LOVE IT!.

One of the best things I've experienced since I started riding is that it's an automatic conversation piece with others. I've had old, young, men, women and children all approach me when I'm getting ready to ride with questions, or stories, or a "gee, I wish I could do that!". And I say to them all, "LET'S GO!"

I have had several encounters with 'old' people in my local grocery parking lot, men who are in their 70's and 80's who will watch as I walk over to the bike, they'll catch my eye and ask if it's mine, do I go fast, then say women didn't ride when he was young but they think it's a good thing, often their wives are with them and will comment that it was something they would have liked to try it when they were younger. So now I'm envied (?) by the grandparents of the babyboomer age, such an inspiration, I wonder if I should start my own fan club. The real joke is that these people are only 12 - 20 years older than me, I've already been noticed by the AARP.

OMG, OMG Tomorrow will be my 1 year anniversary of getting my Harley
I can't believe it has happened so quick! I have just under 2400 miles on it now and LOVING every minute of it. Yay midlife awakening!!

Congrats to you tlc! This is the first and may you have many many more!!! It only gets better as the time goes by so keep ridin', wavin', and smilin'.
