Great to meet you! I bet you are looking forward to the course starting up, but it sounds like you are well on your way with the parking lot practice anyway. Kawasaki Vulcans are very nice rides, I like them a lot.

Welcome Mtlighthouse, to the forum and the 2 wheel world. The BRC course is a great way to learn to ride a motorcycle the right way. And being a backseat rider will give you a edge on transferring to the front seat, you already know the balance and way a bike moves.
And a Hubby who buys you a bike for you birthday is a keeper, a thumbs up for Mr. Mt.

Welcome Mylighthouses. Good luck on your riding course (smart move by signing up). I'm sure you will be zipping around in no time at all.

Keep us posted on how it goes :D

FYI, Women Riders Now has lots of information for new rides. Be sure to check some of that out as well.

I made it through the course just fine best thing I did really have gain confidence and skills. This weekend I did it. I got on the road and managed about 40 miles round trip and no major incident. Awesome feeling riding with husband and not behind husband.
