Hello

Postby ridinginga » Sat May 31, 2014 5:18 pm

Hi
I started riding again approximately 1 year ago. I'm riding a 1981 KZ 440 that's in rough shape. I'm in my 50s n looking for a new bike and was thinking about an FZ09. I'm trying to find out if there are any women that have tried it.
Thanks

Hello and welcome!

Can't help you either with the bike. You might want to start a new thread to hopefully get someone's attention. Here is a link: viewforum.php?f=3

Congrats on getting back into riding! :D

Hi and welcome along. Haven't tried the FZ09 but I have a Honda Hornet that has a similar seating position and is a naked bike like that one. I find the seating position pretty comfortable as you are not leaning right forward like on some sports bikes. They are a little higher in the seat than what I mainly ride (Harley) but easy to manouvre with the nice short wheel base. Plenty of power for passing.

I rode an FZ09 at the Moto Expo and I REALLY liked it.
I did a demo ride on a Triumph triple lately and the Triumph sale man warned me that the Yamaha has a touchy throttle that is difficult to modulate on/off the gas.
He also said that the suspension needs improving.
I dunno if I'm a hot enough rider to need to spend money on suspension tho. I am a bit concerned about the throttle.
But that throttle was a problem with the Triumph. I got on the gas and there was a lag; a delay before it started getting going. No Bueno.

There is a Yamaha FZ09 forum - http://www.fz09.org
