Classics

Postby dazzelindevils » Sun Oct 02, 2016 12:20 pm

I'd love to see some photos of women riding some classic bikes. I say anything older than the 90's.

I have a 1980 Suzuki GS550L...

Absolutely love my bike! I have done so much maintenance on my bike, and have a ton of confidence from those experiences. Older bikes sometimes require a little more maintenance, at least to get up and running. They have carbs instead of fuel injection, they are air cooled often times, and have their various kinks.

Who out there has a kickass classic to showoff?

I sure wish I did! I opted for a newer fuel injected bike for my first street bike (purchased just 2 months ago). I first set out to get a vintage bike like a Honda CB 550 or a Yamaha XS 650, but thought it best to start with a more reliable bike that was ready to go right off the bat and that I could spend more time riding on than wrenching on. Eventually, I would love to get a second bike that is vintage, and a third (maybe a supermoto) and maybe even a scooter for around town because they're so darn cute.

Good on you for being down to wrench and ride!

I have a couple of vintage bikes
78 BMW R45/N. Only a handful of these in the states, they were never imported.

I also have a 78 R90 with a side car and I'm the second owner of a 71 R75/5.

Then I have the Moto Guzzi Stornellos. 1965-1968's. I have three that are complete and the parts to build a couple more.

LOL, I swooned over the R45.....when I had to buy engine parts from Moto Bins in England. Pretty sure I can fly over and bring them home for close to what it cost to ship stuff here. :-)

Love your bikes Deeg! I love those classic 70s scrambler style bikes. I'm definitely into the dirt bike and tracker riding style.

There is nothing wrong with getting a nice new bike, with modern updates. I was thinking of going with a relatively newer bike, but really wanted to wrench and bring something back to life. You can get 80s bike like mine for very cheap, they need attention, but the wrenching process is so much fun!

Hey all,

I originally wanted something newer but when I saw my 1975 cb400f I couldn't resist. Have had some fun times with it so far. Still working on learning how to do stuff myself but I think I'll wait to really dive into that until I get a second bike. Figured that way I can work on the cb and still have a bike to ride in case cleaning the carbs doesn't go as planned ;). I've done a couple things cosmetically myself since this picture but nothing major.
