Honda Motorcycles is also unveiling for 2010 the NT700V, a new lightweight sport touring motorcycle.]]> "World class" and "stunning" were a few words that were used to describe Michael Lichter's 9th Annual Motorcycles as Art Exhibition held during this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. The exhibit entitled "Rebel Rousers, Motorcycle Icons that Inspire Us to Ride" showcased the most important collection of motorcycles and art to ever grace Sturgis and was viewed by thousands of guests.]]> I recently tested a pair of TCX Sunray Gore-Tex women's boots and reach for them now every time I hop on a motorcycle. The Sunray boots aren't just smaller-sized men's boots. TCX engineers designed them specifically for a woman's foot using a specially designed last, or foot shaped mold, that reproduces the differences in the instep, heel, and metatarsal zones naturally found in women's feet.]]> Like motorcycle jackets, we're finally seeing more boot makers producing motorcycle riding footwear specifically for the female foot. I ride a 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King that I bought from my brother and put 16,000 miles on in the first 13 months I had it. I have only been riding on my own for less than 2 years. Last November I fell from the top of a loaded flatbed, 7 feet in the air, head first. I shattered both my wrists, broke my nose and took 10 stitches in three places on my face. I was introduced to Biker Premium Jeans earlier this spring, jeans made specifically for riding. Women riders from 43 states, plus Canada, the UK, Australia and Japan, and more than 50 riding clubs are attending.]]> Those who know me know I'm a big fan of one rally -- the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I love the Black Hills area of South Dakota so much that I've been heading to the big event the first week in August for the last 14 years. I skipped just one rally in 2002. I've seen lots of changes over the years, including a noticeable increase in women riders this year. I'd say nearly one in five bikes was ridden by a woman.]]> It's nice to be able to talk with your riding partner through headsets that communicate with each other, but older technology has wires that connect your helmet headset to a receiver on your motorcycle. A new product from Cardo Systems eliminates those wires making the whole device simpler.]]> The official attendance numbers for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2009 are not been tallied yet, but judging by being there all week during the first week in August -- and comparing the event to other years both attendance and vendor participation were significantly down -- to be expected in a recession year. However a few less tens of thousand motorcyclists doesn't affect the fun and revelry that goes on and this year was no different.]]> It all began at the ripe age of 65 while vacationing in Pigeon Pass, Tennessee, during the spring when bikes were abounding everywhere. I decided that riding a motorcycle would be fun. I was so enraptured that I went to the Harley-Davidson dealer there and purchased a helmet. Upon arriving home in Florida, I signed up and took a rider's safety course, which I failed by riding the bike off the course and going down. Undeterred]]> Communicating with other motorcyclists while riding can become a somewhat creative endeavor often involving various gestures, hand signals, horn beeping and muffled shouting usually never heard outside a helmet's confines. A new gadget called Whiz Freedom, according to the press release, takes the glory from men who swear by being able to pee standing up.]]> I realize I'm not the target market demographic Ducati intended for the GT 1000. After all, I was only about to be conceived when Ducati designer Fabio Taglioni sketched out an image of the bike that would become legendary to many motorcycle historians and the basis for this modern-day, retro-styled sport-standard.]]> WRN contributor Tricia Szulewski didn't expect much from the no-frills sport classic Ducati GT 1000 when she reviewed it recently. Women don't normally gravitate to this type of motorcycle. But she was given the opportunity to test ride it and found it to be lightweight and zippy on the twisties and an overall fun motorcycle to ride.]]> The Robson Company has improved the Thumbnail Extension, reviewed by WRN. So what's new? The Thumbnail Curve as its now called, is contoured making it even easier for those with shorter fingers to reach the turn signals. It covers the stock button better so when a rider with a short thumb reaches for the turn signal, the Thumbnail Curve extension is right within reach so the rider doesn't have to move his or her hand off the throttle or handgrip.]]> We've got to hand it to Harley-Davidson for continuing to come up with jazzy new styles that keep up with what's going on in mainstream fashion circles. The new MotorClothes are inspired by tattoo art -- and because they're sexy, comfortable and cutting edge we think women riders will love them whether they ride a Harley-Davidson or not. ]]> Scooters usually inspire adjectives like economical, reasonable, and other nice-but-uninspiring terms. Yamaha is trying to change that stereotype with the new TMAX scooter it's labeling a supersport scooter While this new scooter still works great for making trips to the local market and scooting around town how will it handle where power really counts -- out on the highway and going on long trips.]]> "Supersport" designated motorcycles command awe and appreciation for their combination of sleek, go-fast looks and sporty, go-fast performance. On the other hand, scooters often don the less-sexy monikers of economical, practical, and even cute.]]> I'm a big fan of the Ride Like A Pro series of DVDs that show riders how to become a better motorcycle rider through a series of fun exercises. BRP Can-Am Spyder roadster owners from all over North America rode to Los Angeles for the Ryde to the Red Carpet event. The Spyder roadster role in this summer's blockbuster hit, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, was the highlight of the event.]]> Lehman Trikes unveiled its newest trike, the CrossBow, at the annual Victory Dealer Meeting in Wyoming, Minnesota. There are four variations of this large-sized cruiser from the stripped down Classic to the luxury touring Voyager.
