Frequently Asked Questions    Printer friendly version

1. What is WomenRidersNow.com?

It is an online motorcycle magazine. There is no print version of the magazine. You cannot buy a subscription to WomenRidersNow.com. The content provided is free. We do offer a weekly eNewsletter that is complimentary. You can receive it each week in your email box by signing up for it at the link under "Extras."

WomenRidersNow.com is published by Women Riders Now, a marketing and communications company. Women Riders Now is not a women's riding club and is not affiliated with any riding clubs.

2. Why create an online magazine about women and motorcycling?
Currently, new women riders, experienced women riders, passengers, and women thinking about riding are not targeted specifically by any large scale national media outlet, be it print, online or television. WomenRidersNow.com aims to serve this growing audience. To learn more about WRN's mission, visit the Who We Are link.

3. I was hoping to find lists of womens riding clubs and lists of places to buy women's gear. Why don't you have those lists if you say you're site for women riders?
We have found other sites that have already compiled those lists. We recommend those sites on "Links We Like." No need for us to duplicate that effort. Much like a print magazine, we will feature products and do articles on clubs at our editorial discretion.

4. Why don't you have a forum where women can post questions and exchange thoughts with one another?
Several women motorcyclist forums already exist on the Internet. It is not our intention to compete with that. We do, however, offer readers the opportunity to communicate with the WRN audience at the Connect with Others link. Readers can submit a comment that the editor will post at her discretion. For those desiring a response, an email address can be posted. Readers can communicate offline (between themselves away from WRN) if they so choose.

5. How is WomenRidersNow.com different than the other women-oriented sites?
The founder of this site works in the motorcycle industry full-time and has been for many years. Using her extensive list of industry contacts coupled with her motorcycling experience, she aims to bring a broader perspective to women and motorcycling information available today. WomenRidersNow.com is much more than a Web site. It is an online magazine packed with news and information about the motorcycle industry. There are not many places on the Internet where you can read a motorcycle test ride article written by a woman, let alone see a video test ride done by a woman. Our founder gets invited to the leading motorcycle industry events. She and her team of talented motojournalists are able to deliver the most-up-to-date news and information on women and motorcycling not found anywhere else. You can read more about our founder at the Our Founder link.

6. Why is the story / letter I sent in not posted on the Web site yet?
If you don't see your submission posted, it may be because a) we didn't receive it for some reason, b) it didn't have all the required information, or c) it didn't meet our editorial standards for posting.

7. You seem like you showcase more cruiser and touring motorcycles than sportbikes and you seem to lean more towards one particular brand. Is this true?
That is not true. We are an all-brands motorcycle site and do not showcase just one style or brand of motorcycle. Look closely at the pictures on the site. You will see every major brand of motorcycle represented. We also showcase sportbikes and dirtbikes. National statistics indicate that 80 percent of female motorcyclists ride a cruiser style motorcycle, so based on the input we get from readers, we receive more cruiser-related material.

In our quest to showcase all styles of motorcycles fairly, we've developed an extensive Racing Page for those who ride sportbikes and want to go one step further. When it comes to women and motorcycling, we believe that it's not about the brand or style of bike that's ridden, what's more important is the fact that women ride.

8. What is your editorial policy?
We operate much like the high end motorcycle magazines in that we adhere to strict editorial guidelines with a goal of being fair and balanced with every story that is posted. We do not favor any brand or product over another.

9. How can I get my product posted on WRN?
WRN's Product News & Reviews is a section where we post selected items we feel are of interest to our readers. If you would like your product to be considered for a product announcement - that is where we do not test the product, we simply post information about it, please follow these guidelines: submit a press release spelling out the basics of the product (i.e. who, what, where, why and when). Attach at least one image (two are preferred) in a high resolution jpg format. While low resolution photos are used on the Web, we prefer to downsize them on our end. Email the images to gschmitt@womenridersnow.com. We make no guarantees on when and if the product will post.

If you wish to have your product tested by editor Genevieve Schmitt or one of the WRN contributors, it is best to call or email us to see if your product is something we feel is worthwhile to our readers. We cannot guarantee we'll test a product if it is sent to us unsolicited.
