Genevieve Schmitt    Printer friendly version

The founder of Women Riders Now is Genevieve Schmitt who many in the industry know as the founding editor of the award-winning* Woman Rider magazine. Genevieve created the concept of a national publication focusing on all brands dedicated to the fastest growing segment of motorcycling. WomenRidersNow.com picks up where Woman Rider magazine left off.

Genevieve has been working in the motorcycle industry since 1993 and is recognized as a leader in motorcycling journalism focusing on the area of women. In 2001, Genevieve was inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame for her journalism work on raising awareness of the female motorcyclist. In addition to publishing WomenRidersNow.com, she currently writes a monthly column for American Iron magazine, the number one motorcycle publication on the newsstands, and Dealernews, a leading industry trade magazine. She previously contributed a monthly column to Friction Zone, Midwest Motorcyclist and Cycle Trader magazines.

Genevieve is considered the leading spokesperson on the subject of women and motorcycling having been quoted in many newspaper and magazine articles including USA Today, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News, BusinessWeek and Jane magazine. She also appeared on The Fox News Channel on a segment on women riders on "Geraldo At Large." Click here to be directed to our media clippings page.

Genevieve tours the country speaking at motorcycling events including ladies nights, dealer open houses, and motorcycle rallies. Her speeches are designed to inspire women to take up motorcycling for the first time, or inspire current riders to spend more time in the saddle by creating new riding goals. In addition, Genevieve does presentations to business owners to help them better market to the female customer. Click here to see a list of past speaking engagements.

Genevieve owns Solitude Ranch Communications (SRC), the parent company of Women Riders Now. Among the projects SRC is involved with is video and TV production. In 2006, SRC produced the officially licensed DVD of the AMA's Women & Motorcycling Conference. That DVD is available for purchase by clicking here. Genevieve also produced segments for Speed Channel and the Outdoor Life Network (now Versus).

A little known fact about Genevieve is that she is the first female reporter to ride a motorcycle on TV and report on the lifestyle when she worked for six years on the Speedvision cable network (now Speed Channel) on the show "Bike Week" from 1997 to 2003. She also rode an ATV around on TV for three years reporting for "ATV Magazine Television," a show on the Outdoor Life Network. She is an Emmy-nominated news magazine TV producer for her work on E! Entertainment Television. Genevieve also worked as a producer for Good Morning America, and EXTRA. Genevieve has been riding a motorcycle since 1990.
