The failure of motorists to detect and recognize when motorcycles slow down in traffic can lead to dangerous collisions on the road. Helping to prevent injuries, costly repairs and downtime due to an accident, Powersport Innovations created a product called Safe Ride. This patented light assembly utilizes a strobing, bright red LED to warn vehicles following a motorcycle when it's decelerating, i.e. slowing down whether you're braking or not. That's the difference between this product and many of the other flashing brake light products on the market. Keep reading.

The Safe Ride system includes a microprocessor-controlled G force sensing module. As a motorcyclist throttles down or decelerates, the module provides power to the LED. When engaged, the red LED strobes, gaining surrounding drivers' full attention and helping them take timely corrective action and avoid collisions. This advanced warning system works with any reduction of speed, such as downshifting or sudden throttle reductions, as well as when the brakes are applied. This is a drastic improvement over other systems that only work if the brake is applied. Safe Ride draws minimal power from the power source of only 170 milliamps. Featuring a low-profile design, its highly visible LED can last up to 100,000 hours. The system is fully water-, shock- and vibration-proof. With marine-grade wire and epoxy-embedded circuitry, it can withstand harsh weather conditions.
The LED light is highly visible, day or night. |

I just visited this Web site and at the very bottom it says "not available in California." I wonder if it's not legal in this state only. Bummer.

Sue, We just got a response from John from Powersport Innovations regarding the availability of the product in Calif.
"We recently added a version for California. I deleted those words from the page. You can buy the California version on the Buy Now page where it is listed separately. You will love it.

I'm definitely looking into these lights. I ride a Ducati Monster and the brake lights are very small. The fact that decelerating and downshifting causes them to go on is fantastic!

I have installed LEDs like the one you are showing in this article and have gone one step further with Hyper Lites as well. At the beginning, when I got my first Guzzi, I put the single strip that just lit up with the brakes. Then, I went to the Hyper Lites to flash everything I installed.
I also went to Kisan Lightminders on one bike and will be getting them installed on the others as well. Why? Cell phones. People don't pay attention to the road and I was almost done in by a woman getting on a highway via the exit ramp while I was getting off the highway on the same exit ramp. She was oblivious to everything, wrapped up on her cell phone. Thanks.
